Doubts are growing about Barcelona’s potential acquisition of Alessandro Bastoni. The Inter Milan and Italian national team defender had previously expressed strong interest in a move to Spotify Camp Nou, but recent reports suggest he is poised to extend his contract with Inter for at least another season.
Adding to Barcelona’s concerns are the substantial financial demands from Inter Milan. The Italian club is seeking as much as €70 million for their key defender, while Barcelona is currently only willing to offer €50 million, leading to speculation about potential player-plus-cash deals.
While new manager Hansi Flick has yet to make a definitive decision regarding Bastoni, sporting director Deco has begun identifying alternative targets. According to Gianluca Di Marzio, as reported by MD, Evan N’Dicka of AS Roma has emerged as a player on Deco’s radar.
Barcelona has previously shown interest in N’Dicka, having been keen to sign him in 2023 when he was with Eintracht Frankfurt. At that time, a transfer could have been completed on a free, but his current market value is significantly higher.
Roma Seeking €40 Million for N’Dicka
Reports indicate that Roma would only consider selling N’Dicka if they receive an offer in the vicinity of €40 million. This valuation aligns more closely with Barcelona’s budget for a new central defender. However, it remains to be seen if the Catalan club will be prepared to make such an investment in the Ivorian international.
Barcelona will only seriously pursue other defensive options if it becomes evident that a move for Bastoni is no longer feasible. In the meantime, their primary focus remains on convincing both the player and Inter Milan of a potential transfer.
