Barcelona’s persistent interest in promising young talents has now materialized into a formal offer for Belgian winger Jesse Bisiwu. The 18-year-old has been on the radar of Barcelona’s scouting department since last summer, and negotiations have been ongoing for several months.
The club’s pursuit of Bisiwu first came to light in January, following his scouting at the U-17 World Cup in November 2025. Bisiwu’s agent, Mobindi Marthy, confirmed Barcelona’s interest in February, acknowledging that several other prominent clubs were also monitoring the player.
Further demonstrating their commitment, Barcelona’s Head of Scouting, Joao Amaral, attended the UEFA Youth League final between Brugge and Real Madrid two weeks ago. During this event, he engaged in discussions with Brugge Sporting Director Devy Rigaux regarding Bisiwu.
According to reports from MD, Barcelona has now submitted a formal offer to Brugge for Bisiwu. Previously, it was understood that the player himself would prioritize a move to Barcelona. The club’s strategy is reportedly to secure a deal akin to the acquisition of Roony Bardghji, involving a relatively modest transfer fee and integrating Bisiwu into their Barca Atletic squad, with the aim of him progressing to the first team through training.
Barcelona is currently awaiting a response from Brugge regarding their offer, with no specific financial details yet disclosed. The willingness of Brugge to part with Bisiwu may be influenced by the player’s desire to move and the fact that he has only one year remaining on his contract. However, earlier reports indicated that Brugge was confident of securing a contract renewal and felt no immediate urgency to negotiate for a player whose market value could significantly increase with first-team experience.
