Barcelona are gearing up for a significant summer transfer window, aiming to bolster Hansi Flick’s squad for the upcoming season. Sporting director Deco is also focused on bringing in more talent from La Masia, and an agreement for a new signing could be reached imminently.
In recent years, Barcelona has placed a strong emphasis on acquiring promising young players. Following the additions of Juwensley Onstein and Hamza Abdelkarim in January, the club is already working on summer acquisitions. The first of these is expected to be Seydou Dembele.
Barcelona has actively scouted the African market, and Dembele appears to be the next talent destined for La Masia. According to Africa Foot (via MD), the 18-year-old is on the verge of joining from JMG Academy Bamako.
Dembele, widely regarded as one of Mali’s finest young players, is set to move to Europe this summer. Chelsea had been monitoring his progress, but Barcelona, with Deco identifying him as another top prospect for La Masia, have reportedly taken the lead.
Who is Seydou Dembele?
Primarily an attacking midfielder, Dembele has also played on the right wing for Mali’s U17 team. This left-footed playmaker has an impressive record of six goals in 14 international appearances, with his dribbling ability being his most standout skill.
Should Dembele sign, Barcelona will be hoping he can make a significant impact starting next season. If he performs well for the U19 team, where he is likely to begin his career, there’s a strong possibility of him rapidly progressing through the ranks with the ultimate goal of reaching the senior squad.
