Barcelona is actively seeking a new centre forward to fill the void left by Robert Lewandowski’s departure. Their primary targets have been Julian Alvarez and Joao Pedro, but a third prominent name has emerged as the transfer window approaches.
The club anticipates being able to make a significant signing this summer, especially if they regain La Liga’s 1:1 financial rule. However, facing stiff competition from Atletico Madrid for Alvarez and Chelsea for Pedro, Barcelona is exploring alternative options.
One such option being considered is a move for Harry Kane, reminiscent of their acquisition of Lewandowski four years ago. According to MD, the Bayern Munich striker is now the third choice on Barcelona’s shortlist for a summer transfer. Crucially, Kane could be a more affordable option than either Alvarez or Pedro.
Barcelona has long admired Kane, who has enjoyed a stellar season with Bayern, scoring 58 goals in 50 appearances across all competitions. Despite turning 33 this summer, his performance demonstrates that a veteran striker can still be a highly valuable addition, much like Lewandowski has proven.
Kane Has Release Clause in Bayern Contract
Reports indicate that Harry Kane possesses a €65 million release clause in his Bayern contract. This would make him considerably less expensive than Alvarez or Pedro, whose asking prices are reportedly over €100 million – a sum Barcelona is prepared to spend on a new striker.
While Kane would be an excellent acquisition, he has shown no inclination to leave Bayern this summer and appears content in Bavaria.
