Rayo Vallecano Players Fund Fans Scammed Out of Conference League Final Tickets

Football News

Rayo Vallecano players have demonstrated their commitment to the Vallecas community by offering financial support to fans who were victims of a travel scam targeting the Conference League final in Leipzig.

The club, from the East of Madrid, has achieved remarkable success by reaching the Conference League final, eliminating formidable opponents like Strasbourg and AEK Athens. This marks their second European campaign, and they are poised to compete for their first major trophy against Crystal Palace in Germany.

Player Intervention for Scammed Fans

The issue surfaced on Twitter/X when it became apparent that a travel package advertised to fans for the Leipzig match, priced at €250 for flights and bus transportation, was fraudulent. Several fans were defrauded, as detailed by the social media account ‘Soy Bolton,’ who then appealed to the Rayo players for assistance.

In response to the public appeal, Rayo captain Oscar Valentin showed his support. Following this, a screenshot was shared indicating how the scammed fans would receive their money back. The image revealed donations from goalkeeper Dani Cardenas (€400), right-back Andrei Ratiu (€1,000), and striker Sergio Camello (€2,000).

Previous Fan Solidarity

This is not the first instance of the Rayo fanbase rallying to support fellow supporters in relation to the Conference League final. Earlier in the week, Cadena Cope reported on an 80-year-old fan, Enrique, who had paid for a bus trip to see Rayo play Crystal Palace. After a crowdfunding initiative was launched to help Enrique attend the match, the necessary €1,034 to secure him a seat on a chartered flight to Germany was raised in under two hours.
