Rayo Vallecano is set to host RC Strasbourg in a historic match at Vallecas for their inaugural Conference League semi-final and their very first European semi-final. Strasbourg will also experience new sensations, particularly the anticipated electric atmosphere of Vallecas.
Manager Iñigo Pérez confirmed that Rayo Vallecano will be without Álvaro García, Randy Nteka, and Luiz Felipe due to injuries for this crucial clash. Two of these absentees would likely have been starters against the French team. Carlos Martín, Abdul Mumin, and Fran Pérez are not registered for the competition. Strasbourg, on the other hand, are missing Valentin Barco, Joaquín Panichelli, Aaron Anselmino, and Mathis Amougou through injury, and midfielder Junior Mwanga is also not registered for the competition.
Striker Choice for Rayo: Camello or Alemao?
One of the key decisions for Pérez lies in the striker position. Sergio Camello has been regaining form, scoring twice in his last two appearances, while Alemao has been performing well in European fixtures recently. Jorge de Frutos also presents an option to play through the middle. Reports from Diario AS suggest Camello will lead the line, whereas Marca anticipates Alemao starting. Diario AS’s predicted lineup does not include de Frutos, favoring Pacha Espino on the left wing and Ilias Akhomach on the right.
In defense, Nobel Mendy or Pathe Ciss could partner Florian Lejeune in place of the injured Luiz Felipe. Ahead of them, Unai López is expected to feature. If Ciss plays in defense, captain Óscar Valentín might be given a starting role. Isi Palazón, returning from a lengthy suspension, is slated to start in the number 10 position.
Strasbourg’s Attacking Options
Strasbourg’s manager, Gary O’Neil, possesses a wealth of attacking options despite facing some significant injuries. Julio Enciso is expected to be central to their forward line, though it remains to be seen whether he will play alongside or ahead of Sékou Mara. They are part of a diverse array of attacking talents, including Habib Diallo, Moïse Sahi Dion, and Kevin Gameiro, all of whom are likely to feature at some point. Further back, O’Neil has a more settled defensive lineup, with the only other uncertainty being whether Kévin Gameiro or Dimitri Liénard will start at right-back.
