Winger Has Reservations About Barcelona Summer Move

Barcelona are reportedly planning to recruit a new left winger this summer, as it appears unlikely they will secure Marcus Rashford on a permanent deal. The club is seeking an affordable option to provide competition for Raphinha, and Sporting Director Deco is considering Ez Abde. Abde departed Barcelona for Real Betis in the summer of 2023. After a somewhat inconsistent start in Andalusia, he has significantly improved during the 2025-26 campaign, amassing an impressive 12 goals and nine assists in 38 appearances across all competitions.

Barcelona has been closely monitoring Abde’s development since his departure, partly due to a sell-on clause included in his agreement with Betis. This clause could potentially reduce the cost of acquiring him from La Cartuja, though a transfer is not guaranteed. Real Betis is open to selling Abde for the right price. However, if Barcelona were to make an offer, the Morocco international reportedly has reservations about returning to the Spotify Camp Nou, according to reports from Sport. Abde’s desire to be a regular starter at his next club is a significant factor. His consistent starting role for Betis this season has evidently contributed to his strong performances. Should he move on this summer, he would seek a similar position elsewhere. This desire may pose a challenge for Barcelona, given that Raphinha is, and is expected to remain, their undisputed starter on the left wing. It remains to be seen if Barcelona can persuade Abde to return, but if they succeed, it could be a very exciting acquisition. He could serve as an ideal successor to Raphinha, particularly if he continues his upward trajectory in the coming years.
